An extensive remodeling project in 1997 provides students at Shallowater Middle School with modern classrooms. The building housing the school was built in 1964. The district's auditorium also is located on the campus.

School officials said that high priority is given to providing students with new technology. Students have access to more than 100 computers. There are two computer labs, and the school district's servers are housed in the middle school building.

In addition to numerous technology programs, students are exposed to a host of academic programs.

The school hosts several unique events during the year. Pupils are invited to participate in a drug and alcohol prevention program known as SWAT -- Students With A Task. The school invites parents to attend a meeting where they receive tips to help them help their children make the transition from middle school to high school.

Extra curricular activities include band, drama and sports, such as football, basketball, volleyball and tennis.
