Team environment is what makes Roosevelt Elementary School special, according to school officials.

Roosevelt Elementary School, built in 1937, is equipped with more than 200 Internet-ready computers, and every classroom has at least one computer in it.

Students have access to computer-skills instruction in one of the two computer labs at the school.

Playground facilities are both in front and behind the school, and include basketball hoops, swing sets and playground equipment.

The parent teacher association of the school is "very active," an official said.

Roosevelt Elementary School hosts several special events each year, including a Math Family Night and an annual University Interscholastic League competition.

The school offers the popular Accelerated Reader program, which awards points to students who read books, then test their comprehension of the content. The points are used to purchase items from the on-campus reading program store.

Recently, the school received a $7,000 state grant that will help the school purchase computers and reading programs, a school official said.
