Academic
Excellence Indicator System report. Built in 1935, New Deal Middle School
blends the past with the present to create an environment conducive for learning.
The historic school building has been renovated through the years to provide students
with modern facilities. The most renovation came in 2000 with the addition of
six classrooms.
New technology is used throughout the campus, which is wired
for Internet access. Every classroom has a computer. Students have access to 55
computers -- 30 Windows and 25 Macintosh -- in the school's computer lab.
With a teacher to pupil ratio of about one-to-10 at New Deal Middle School, students
receive personal attention in classrooms.
On the playing field, the Lions
compete in basketball, football, cross-country running, tennis and golf.
The
school has an award-winning band program. It also has a unique cheerleading program
that allows every student who wants to be a cheerleader to get the opportunity
through a squad rotation. Another unique program is the school's Champion Clubs,
which promotes high character.
Special events held each year include Texas
Assessment of Academic Skills Field Day and Cinemath Day.
