Wright is a Literacy Collaborative campus, providing early literacy curriculum.

The school was built in 1961.

Facilities include a basketball gymnasium and two computer labs equipped with Dell and Macintosh computers. The computers are all Internet-ready.

Administrators at Wright said the school's parent teacher association offers strong support, and said that parents add to the fiscal and academic strength of the school.

The diverse student population is exposed to an interdisciplinary program that involves study of American Indian culture, Japan, as well as a Read Across America program. Some teachers study in foreign lands in the summer months so they can gain a better understanding of other cultures, and they bring that insight into the their classrooms.

Among the annual events hosted by the school, are meals with parents and students, holiday activities involving the community and a Cinco de Mayo celebration.
