Elementary School prides itself on its parental participation. Its students' parents
are involved in the parent teacher association meetings, fund-raisers, and weekly
and monthly school activities, according to a school representative.
sponsors an annual picnic, and hosts amusing activities like dress-up days, such
as hat day, 50's day, pajama day and twin day. Students participate in events
like the Circle of Champions recognition assemblies, the Veteran's Day assembly,
the U-Can-Share food drive, an annual book fair and the Texas Independence Day
The school's fifth grade Science Camp in Oklahoma is a high point
for many students, a spokesperson said. Other school events include Principal
of the Day, a spelling bee, a school-wide read-a-thon and a Science Fair.
Williams Elementary School is a magnet school that focuses on real-world experience.
The facility has an in-school bank, a post office, a bookstore, a candy store,
a television station and a journalism department. The array of classes provides
exciting opportunities to students who participate in the school-based businesses.
Older students run the businesses after going through the application and
interview process, and student leadership is stressed at Williams Elementary School.
