Roscoe Wilson was established in 1939. The school has seen many additions over the years. The most recent addition was in 1992 when 14 classrooms and a new library were added.

Roscoe Wilson Elementary has a full-service art room, two computer labs, a gymnasium and a music room.

The school has two computer labs, updated in March of 2001, and both have Dell computers with Internet capability. All classrooms are now Internet-ready as well. All classrooms have at least one computer.

The parent teacher association at Roscoe Wilson is very active and involved in the well being of the school, an official said.

A unique element at Roscoe Wilson is the school's annual induction of past alumni to its Hall of Fame, and its celebration of rock-n-roll musician Buddy Holly's birthday each year with a '50s Day.

The school provides Core Knowledge Curriculum and is designated a magnet school by the district.
