Hardwick
Elementary School was constructed in 1965 and renovated in 1998. At the time the
building was renovated, four kindergarten classrooms, an art room and a music
room were added.
The campus is wired for the Internet. There is a computer
in almost every classroom and two computer labs. Students have access to 107 computers.
Parents play an active role in daily activities at the school. Volunteers
are on campus every day. The Hardwick Parent Teacher Association is an active
organization and assists with numerous events throughout the school year.
Hardick has two high-profile teachers on the faculty. Fourth grade teacher Bev
Day has received national recognition for the environmental instruction that takes
place in her classroom. Sixth grade teacher Connie Nugent is an Advanced Placement
trainer for a four-state region.
The school's Future Problem Solving Team
is known throughout the state. The team has won state competitions and, in 2001,
had gone to international competitions in five of the last six years. The school
also has a top-ranked choir and orchestra.
Special events held at the school
each year include Hands Across Hardwick and Kindness Week. Special programs offered
at Hardick include the Mustang Club, a mentoring program known as PALS, Hardwick
Hard Workers and the Mustang of the Month Club.
