Dupre Elementary School was built in 1923. The school looks very traditional from the outside, but very modern facilities are found inside. Seven classrooms and a library were added to the two-story structure in 1994. An attached gymnasium provides students with access recreational facilities without having to go outside during poor weather conditions.

Each classroom is equipped with at least one computer for students to use for Accelerated Reader tests. The campus also has a computer lab equipped with 24 computers.

The elementary school is implementing the Early Literacy Framework for student in kindergarten through the second grade, and it has a Reading Recovery program for first grade students. Students at all grade levels are involved in the Core Knowledge curriculum.

Dupre's parent teacher association is growing and provides each parent with opportunities to participate in their child's education. Throughout the school year several programs are held during parent teacher association evenings. These include Family Reading Night, Family Math Night, Family Computer Night, Meet Your Teacher Night and the Mid-Term Parent Conference Dinner. Grade level programs also are held for parents throughout the year.

Parents are invited to eat lunch with their children during grade level brown bag lunches and the school's chuck wagon lunches. The school hosts Dads-n-Donuts, Moms-n-Muffins and Grandparents Day.

Local Rotarians and Masons have adopted students in the second, third and fourth grades. Members of the civic clubs read with students and provide snacks.

Students are recognized during daily announcements, special assemblies and the school's Dynamite Dolphin Club. Students operate the Dupre Dolphin Post Office, sing in the choir and play on the school's basketball teams.
