Brown Elementary was constructed in 1947. A new wing was added in 1996.

All classrooms are equipped with computers, and most teachers have passed a required competency exam for computer use, which is required by the Lubbock Independent School District.

The school has two computer labs. One is equipped with Dell computers. The other lab, used for tutorial programs, is equipped with Macintosh computers.

Brown Elementary School has an active parent teacher association that grows each year, said one school official.

The cafeteria was painted before the 2001 school year. The lunchroom serves as a gathering point for parents and students.

Brown is an Early Literacy school, and some students are members of the Cadet Corps. The school also provides CORE Knowledge curriculum.
