Academic
Excellence Indicator System report. Built in the 1930s, Frenship Junior
High School is a historic structure renovated to provide a modern learning experience
for students. A library and media center was added in the late 1990s, and construction
was ongoing in 2001 on a new gymnasium, administrative offices, classrooms, a
band hall and a choir room.
The Cyberdome is the centerpiece of the school's
move toward computer-assisted learning. The Cyberdome is a mega-lab that provides
students with access to 60 computers. Also, there is a computer in every classroom
and in the library.
For parents, an interactive website provides access to
each student's homework assignments, grades, schedule, attendance records and
discipline records. The site also allows parents to send e-mail to teachers.
Extracurricular activities include band, choir and sports, such as basketball,
track, football, tennis, volleyball and cheerleading.
Student ambassadors
help new students become acquainted with the school, and a chess and checker program
encourages students to play games during lunch. Frenship Junior High School has
a Charter Counts program that encourages students to play games during their lunch
break. Also, Student Council members participate in civic programs with the South
Plains Food Bank and Buckner's Children's Home.
